Geography
Mayview is located at 39°3′9″N 93°50′3″W / 39.0525°N 93.83417°W (39.052591, -93.834119)[3].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²), all of it land.
Demographics
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 294 people, 100 households, and 82 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,885.9 people per square mile (709.5/km²). There were 111 housing units at an average density of 712.0 per square mile (267.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 87.41% White, 9.52% African American, 1.02% Native American, and 2.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.72% of the population.
There were 100 households out of which 49.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.0% were married couples living together, 15.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.0% were non-families. 15.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.94 and the average family size was 3.29.
In the city the population was spread out with 33.3% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 32.7% from 25 to 44, 17.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 88.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $25,313, and the median income for a family was $28,750. Males had a median income of $24,063 versus $17,875 for females. The per capita income for the city was $10,784. About 11.4% of families and 14.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.6% of those under the age of eighteen and 21.7% of those sixty five or over.
