NEXTV is a Canadian-based IPTV provider that delivers digital television services via broadband. It launched in 2007 and is owned by Ethnic Channels Group, a Canadian ethnic broadcaster. NEXTV offers an array of multicultural channels to subscribers, via a set-top box and high speed Internet connection.

Requirements

In order to receive the services offered by NEXTV, consumers require a high-speed Internet connection with a speed of at least 1.5Mbit/s and a set-top box which can be rented or purchased from NEXTV.

Availability

NEXTV is currently available only to subscribers in Canada. In an effort to expand the service to other markets, Ethnic Channels Group partnered up with EURO-World Network, a distributor of ethnic channels in the US and Australia. In 2008, a US version of the service launched called NEXTV America, offering subscribers various packages of ethnic services, most identical to those offered by NEXTV in Canada. In 2011, the two companies launched NEXTV in Australia & New Zealand.[1]

NEXTV currently offers over 50 channels from around the world including Europe, Asia & the Middle East. They currently offer packages catering to the following ethnic groups:

• Croatian- (HRT America, Nova World, RTL Televizija, HRT Radio & Nardoni Radio)

• English- (Al Jazeera English, CBC News Network, Fashion One, Fox News, The Pet Network & RT)

• Filipino- (GMA Life TV, GMA Pinoy TV, Gemnet, NBN, RPN, UNTV, VIVA TV & DWLS FM Radio)

• German- (ARD, DW-TV, EuroNews, ProSiebenSat.1 Welt, Schlager TV, ZDF, Radio Herz & Radio Heimatmelodie)

• Hungarian- (ATV, Echo TV, HírTV & Tenkes Radio)

• Portuguese- (PFC Internacional, RTP Internacional, Sport TV Américas & TV Globo Internacional)

• Russian- (Club Football, CTC, Domashny, Kino 1, Kino 2, Kto est' Kto, HTB, Nashe Kino, Ren TV, RT, Russia 24, RTR Planeta, RTVi & TNT Russia)
