The Mpi are an ethnic group of Thailand.

Geographic Distribution
There are about 1,500 Mpi in the Nan and Phrae Provinces of Thailand. [1]
Origin
The Mpi came to Laos during the 18th century from the Yunnan Province of China.[citation needed] They migrated shortly afterwards to Thailand.[2] They are of Lolo descent.
Language
Approximately 900 of the Mpi still speak their Mpi language. Nearly all of the Mpi speak fluent Northern Thai.[citation needed]
