next_route=61Highway 60 is a provincially maintained west-east highway in
Ontario . Travelling west to east it begins at Highway 11 in Huntsville and ends at Highway 17 in Renfrew. The section between Highway 35 and Highway 41 is part of the Algonquin Trail Tourist Route.In Huntsville, it is commonly accessed from the interchange with King William Street (
Muskoka district road 3). While near Huntsville, the highway offers four lanes of traffic until it is reduced to two lanes, east of the town's golf and ski resorts. Highway 60 continues east and intersects with Highway 35 near Dwight (part of Township of Lake of Bays).The highway is the major access corridor for
Algonquin Provincial Park , where it is designated the "Frank McDougall Parkway". AnOntario Parks visitor's permit is not required to drive through the park, however it is required for travelers wishing to stop and use any trails or similar facilities within the park boundary. Wildlife such asmoose can often be seen along the side of the highway while driving on this section of the highway, and drivers frequently slow down considerably to observe them.Highway 60 exits Algonquin Provincial Park in the Township of South Algonquin and carries on east intersecting with Highway 127. Beyond Highway 127 it passes through the
Ottawa Valley , following the historic "Opeongo Line " to Barry's Bay and continuing through Golden Lake and Eganville until Renfew where it ends at a junction with Highway 17.A 4 km section between Golden Lake and Eganville overlaps Highway 41.
