It was released as an arcade game by Konami on August 19, 1999. Although only officially released in Japan, units exist worldwide. DDR Solo Bass Mix features 16 songs, all of which are new to Dance Dance Revolution. Most of the music comes from the Dancemania BASS albums. hence the name "Solo Bass Mix". A Solo Bass Mix machine can be upgraded to DDR Solo 2000. This is the first game that features a live-action intro.

Gameplay
See also: Gameplay of Dance Dance RevolutionThe core gameplay of DDR Solo Bass Mix is the same as the previous Dance Dance Revolution games but with the addition of two extra arrows on the top corners of the pad. The game can be played with the traditional 4 panel, or 6 panel. Although it is normally played solo, up to 4 machines can be linked together. In addition, new "Nonstop Megamixes" were added, featuring a club style "truly" nonstop mix of several songs. As with long versions in Dance Dance Revolution 5thMix, they cost 2 stages to play.
Scoring is completely score based, with 500 points earned per Perfect, 300 per Great, and 100 per Good, with jumps counting as double. Bonuses are also added for the longest combo made (length x 300 points) and the longest chain of Perfects (length x 100 points).

Soundtrack
Solo Bass Mix does not have a dedicated soundtrack, though most of the songs ended up on the soundtrack for Dance Dance Revolution Solo 2000.
