Geography

Ainaloa is located at coor dms|19|31|33|N|154|59|38|W|city (19.525819, -154.994022)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.6 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 1,910 people, 632 households, and 470 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,074.2 people per square mile (414.3/km²). There were 722 housing units at an average density of 406.0/sq mi (156.6/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 28.17% White, 0.99% African American, 0.58% Native American, 15.18% Asian, 13.87% Pacific Islander, 0.84% from other races, and 40.37% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 20.52% of the population.

There were 632 households out of which 43.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.0% were married couples living together, 19.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.6% were non-families. 18.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.02 and the average family size was 3.39.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 35.1% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 6.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females there were 103.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.4 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $25,698, and the median income for a family was $37,647. Males had a median income of $26,855 versus $26,518 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $11,109. About 27.2% of families and 36.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 46.9% of those under age 18 and 12.2% of those age 65 or over.
