History
Eltham North Post Office opened around 1934 and closed in 1966. [2]
Today
It is home to North Eltham Wanderers Cricket Club and Eltham North Soccer Club, a local soccer team & Eltham North Jets Basketball Club, a local basketball team & club. It has the same postcode as Eltham.
The current mayor of Eltham North is industrialist, philanthropist and bicyclist H.E. Pennypacker, who was voted to mayorship in a unanimous decision at the Eltham North Scout Hall on the 15th of June 2005. Other candites included architect and marine biologist Art Vandelay and Saab factory owner Kel Varnsen.
It is also home to the Catholic Ladies College established in 1902 by the Sisters of Charity founded by Mary Aikenhead. CLC moved to Eltham, from its original location in March 1968. It has some of the oldest buildings in Eltham such as the Currajeen building which was formerly a convent for the nuns. The school crest consists of a rose, a symbol of God's love for us, a book symbolising the knowledge and learning of the school community and a lily representing purity. The school's that are in Eltham North are Glen Katherine Primary School, St. Helena Secondary College, Holy Trinity Catholic School and Eltham North Primary School.
