Dobřichovice is situated half way between Prague and Karlštejn Castle, one of the most famous landmarks in the Czech Republic. Dobřichovice has about 3000 permanent inhabitants and several hundred temporary inhabitants (mainly from Prague) coming to spend weekend on cottages scattered by the waterside.
Important railway line Prague–Beroun–Pilsen–Nuremberg is situated on the right bank of the Berounka river.
In August 2002 significant part of Dobřichovice was flooded by the river and more than 200 houses in Dobřichovice were severely hit up to the ground floor. The flood have also destroyed local 30 years old footbridge which has been then replaced by new one, also funded from the European Phare fund.
