It is situated approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) south west of the town of Driffield and 8 miles (13 km) north east of the town of Pocklington. 3.8 miles (6.1 km) to the north west lies the village of Huggate. South Dalton actually lies some 4.5 miles (7.2 km) to the south east, with several villages in between. The village itself lies on the B1246 road.
According to the 2001 UK census, North Dalton parish had a population of 315.[1]
