Daganbhuiyan (Bengali: দাগনভূইয়া) is an Upazila of Feni District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh.

Daganbhuiyan is a commercial centre with one of Bangladesh's biggest cotton spinning mills.

Geography

Daganbhuiyan is located at 22°56′15″N 91°18′15″E / 22.9375°N 91.3042°E / 22.9375; 91.3042. It has 34750 household units and total area 165.84 km². Former name of Daganbhuiyan is Gopiganj. A number of noted Bangladeshis were born in Daganbhuiyan. Among them, some are: Abdus salam (Basa shahid), Shahid M A Khalek (Gonipur,Chunggarpul),Saber Hussain Chowdhury (former cabinet minister), Abdul Awal Mintu (former president of FBCCI), Mujibul Hayder Chowdhury (noted banker) and freedom fighter A.B.M. Bahar, Eng. Nurul huda (chearmen rajuk),Late.Nur Nobi Chowdhury.(Footballer & Department of police),md abul bashar(president of BAIRA).

Demographics

As of 1991 Bangladesh census, Daganbhuiyan has a population of 204975. Males constitute are 49.4% of the population, and females 50.6%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 95809. Daganbhuiyan has an average literacy rate of 40.7% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.^[1]
