Marty Snider

Marty Snider (born July 15, 1969) is an American Sportscaster. Snider is a pit reporter for NASCAR on TNT. He has been a part of Turner Sports' NASCAR coverage since 1998. Snider also served as a NASCAR pit reporter for NBC Sports from 1999-2006. In 2006, Snider was a part of the Emmy award winning NBC/TNT NASCAR team that claimed the 2006 "Outstanding Live Sports Series" Emmy. Since that time Snider has gone on to be a part of six Emmy award winning teams. Snider was also awarded "Pit Reporter of the Year" in 2007 by NASCAR.com's Fan Vote contest where race fans vote annually for their favorite personalities in NASCAR.

On air, Snider is known for his jovial nature and has been critically acclaimed for his interviewing skills. Currently he also serves as a NASCAR Insider for NASCAR.com and is the public speaker for Coca-Cola's NASCAR program as well as the NASCAR program for FedEx.

Biography

Early career

Snider worked as a sports reporter for WYFF, the NBC affiliate in Greenville, S.C. from 1993-94 and WGHP in High Point, N.C. from 1991-93. He began working for WGHP as an intern and was hired as a sports reporter and was on the air while he was finishing his senior year of college.

From 1994-1997, he worked as a reporter and associate producer for ESPN's NASCAR Today.

Snider was CNNSI's NASCAR reporter from 1998-2002, filing regular reports from every NASCAR event.

From 1995-2000, Snider worked as a pit reporter for the Motor Racing Network's (MRN) NASCAR radio broadcasts.

NBC Sports/Turner Sports

Snider continues to work for NBC Sports, covering the NFL for NBC's Sunday Night pre-game show, Football Night in America. In 2008, Snider joined the NBC Olympic team in Beijing, China as a reporter for their coverage of Cycling and triathlon, BMX, canoe slalom, softball and also the closing ceremony. Snider also serves as a reporter for other NBC Sports events, including PBR events, the US Army All-American Bowl, Rugby 7's and the North American International Auto Show. Also for Versus, Snider covers the Indy Car Series as a pit reporter.

For Turner Sports, Snider is a part of the TNT NBA team where he serves as a sideline reporter during the regular season and playoffs, working with the teams of Marv Albert and Steve Kerr as well as Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller . When Turner Sports added the NCAA tournament in 2011, Snider became a part of that on-air team partnering with Gus Johnson and Len Elmore. For TNT's NASCAR coverage, Snider continues to serve as a pit reporter. Snider is also a part of Turner Sports owned NASCAR.com as a weekly contributor on the Preview Show Delivered by FedEx Racing.

Since 2004, Snider has appeared each Tuesday on WFNZ in Charlotte on the Mac Attack with Chris Mcclain. He is often maligned for his stance on the Duke/North Carolina rivalry in which he roots for both teams. He is also a regular on the nationally syndicated Mancow radio show.

Marty Snider & Associates

In addition to his on-air duties, Snider has owned MS&A (Marty Snider & Associates) since 1994. MS&A serves as a video production company for several of the top race teams and sponsors in NASCAR racing as well as Fortune 500 companies world wide. MS&A counts Joe Gibbs Racing, and Hendrick Motorsports among their longtime NASCAR clients. They also provide video production for The Coca-Cola Company, Exxon/Mobil, Ford, Oreo, FedEx, Procter & Gamble, IAMS Pet Food, Tissot Watch Brand, Toyota, Old Spice, Daytona International Speedway and M&M's just to name a few. Several of MS&A's key annual projects include providing video production for all of Coca-Cola's Final Four events, NASCAR projects and LeBron James Sprite and Coca-Cola commercials. MS&A has six full time employess and is based in Charlotte, NC.

Personal

Snider was raised in High Point, NC, where at the age of 10 he was introduced to racing by his cousin and occasional Sprint Cup Series driver Jay Hedgcock. He remembers spending time with Hedgcock, Jeff Burton, Kyle Petty and Phil Parsons during his summers. "I would hang out in the garage, hand them wrenches and generally just get in the way," Snider said. "I remember hanging around from the time I was 10 to the time I was about fifteen years old. I would follow those guys around to all the races I could -- I think that's when I really fell in love with racing."

Snider earned a degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Snider helped to found the local Charlotte chapter of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, in the largest and quickest chartering in Delta Sigma Phi's over 100 year history. The Eta Rho chapter at UNC Charlotte was also the first fraternity on campus to have over 100 active brothers. Snider served as the chapter's Founding President and was re-elected to a second term as President in his junior year. The Charlotte chapter of Delta Sigma Phi has been recognized several times as chapter of the year within the Delta Sigma Phi organization, receiving the national fraternity's highest honor. Snider is still involved with the local chapter's alumni advisory board. Snider continues to give back to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as well where he serves on the advisory board of the university's motorsports engineering program, with several other key members from the motorsports industry.

Snider is also actively involved in his church, Lake Forest Church where he and his wife Andrea were founding members. Snider helped spearhead the church's capital campaign to raise funds to build their first building in 2004.

Snider still resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife Andrea, who is a native of Phoenix, AZ and their three children.
