As a child, Oliver and her family moved around from
Texas ,Michigan ,Washington ,California andFlorida . Instead of watching children's shows, Oliver preferred watching sports. As a teenager, Oliver lived inNiceville, Florida , where she attendedNiceville High School . In her high school years, Oliver excelled in track, basketball and tennis. After graduating, Oliver enrolled atFlorida A&M University , where she continued her track endeavors. Oliver earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and graduated in1984 .Career
Oliver began her broadcasting career at
WALB inAlbany, Georgia in1985 as a news reporter. The next year, Oliver moved toWAAY-TV inHuntsville, Alabama . After that stop, Oliver moved toWIVB-TV inBuffalo, New York in 1988. Two years later in 1990, Oliver moved toWTVT inTampa, Florida , where she began her career as a sports anchor in1991 . Oliver moved toKHOU-TV inHouston, Texas , where she continued to be a sports anchor. In1993 , Oliver joined the sports television networkESPN . In1995 , Oliver joinedFOX Sports , where she worked as a sideline reporter atNFL games. In2005 , Oliver joined TNT as a sideline reporter for theirNBA Playoffs coverage.Awards
