Florida State Road in Putnam, Marion, and Lake counties. It runs from Groveland to Palatka. It provides access to areas inOcala National Forest , like Pittman.Route description
Starting at U.S. Route 17 in Palatka, the road goes
southwest , bypassing Downtown Palatka. It starts out as a 4 lane road. SR 100 is the first major junction on thehighway . If you turned right on SR 100, you'll see theKay Larken Field , the airport that serves the Palatka Area. After the junction, the road widens into asuperhighway . It passes the Palatka Mall. The next major junction is SR 20. After that, the road narrows into 4 lanes, then 2 lanes after East Relim Drive. South of the power lines, the area around SR 19 is forest. 5 miles southward, the road turns more directly to the south and crosses theCross Florida Barge Canal . 3 miles south of the bridge is another bridge that crosses theOcklawaha River . Next up is the intersection ofSalt Springs Highway and entersOcala National Forest . Just 5 miles to the southeast, the highway dominates the western shores of Lake George, part of theSt. Johns River . As the road winds through theOcala National Forest , the road intersects with SR 40 near Lake County. Just west of Lake Dorr is the village of Pittman. Next, it enters Altoona and exits theOcala National Forest . The road becomes 4 lanes wide in Umatilla. A few miles south is Eustis and an intersection with SR 44. SR 19 turns right onto US 441 and marks the southern end of the mainline of SR 19. It heads west to Tavares, thecounty seat of Lake County. 16 blocks to the west, the highway turns left and heads in a north-south direction again. It crosses Lake Harris and Little Lake Harris. It bounds the big lake to the west, and the little lake to the east. NearFlorida's Turnpike , the road enters the wetland ofLittle Everglades . The road passes under theturnpike and then under US 27, where it has an interchange that includes a partial interchange with the turnpike. 6 miles to the south is Groveland, the southern end of SR 19.
