Blount Township was established in 1856.
Geography
Blount Township covers an area of 51.73 square miles (133.98 square kilometers); of this, 0.35 square miles (0.92 square kilometers) or 0.69 percent is water. The northwestern portion of the county seat of Danville extends into the southeast portion of the township, as does a portion of Lake Vermilion.
