Derby Moor Community Sports College Trust, formerly known as Derby Moor Community Sports College and Derby Moor Community School, is a secondary school and specialist Sports College situated on Moorway Lane, Littleover, Derby.

The school has four main buildings, Derwent Building, the Millennium Centre, Stenson Building and Cromford Building. Ms W. M. Whelan is the current Headteacher, whilst Mr M Shales and Mr N Jameieson are the Deputy Headteachers.^[1]

The school is taking part in the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) initiative.

School System

The school system currently works by vertical tutoring and there are five houses: Solidarity, Participation, Honour, Dedication and Spirit.^[1] Each house is represented by a particular colour and each house has its own 'house manager'; the names and colours are derived from characteristics of the Olympic Games and the five rings. Each house consists of eleven forms, of which there are four or five students from each of the Years 7 to 11. In Year 11, around 50 prefects, 4 Deputies and Head Boy and Head Girl are chosen to help run the school's affairs.

On the 1st January 2010 the school became a Foundation School with a Trust and acquired charitable status. The trust partners are, at the moment, Derby County Football Club, Ivy House School, NHS Derby City and Derby City Council Sport & Leisure.

Curriculum

In Years 7 to 9 (Keystage 3) and in Years 10 to 11 (Keystage 4 and GCSE), students have the opportunity to study the following subjects:

• Maths

• English Language
• Humanities (History, Religious Studies, Geography [at GCSE; Psychology and Business Studies are included in this curriculum area.]
• Languages (French, Urdu and Punjabi)
• Technology (Textiles, System and Controls, Food Tech., Product Design, CAD)
• ICT
• PE
• Creative Arts (Drama, Art, Music)
• Learning to Learn (L2L)

L2L- (Only certain classes do it and it is only Yr7)Instead of English, Humanities and ICT, They combine the 3 and make L2L. They made L2L because children coming up from Junior school year 6 usual drop levels, L2L helps there levels go higher.

Millennium Centre

The Derwent Building contains memorabilia of Derby School.

The Millennium Centre is a post-16 6th form Centre run jointly by Derby Moor and Littleover Community School, with joint heads, Jamie Henshaw for Derby Moor Community Sports College and Rob Archer for Littleover Community School. There are a wide range of subjects for students to study at A-Level, before applying to universities during their 2nd year (Yar 13). The Centre has a good reputation, though rivalry between the students from the two dominant schools still exists for the main part of Year 12. The Millennium Cente is the top performing, non-private, sixth form in Derby.^{[citation needed]}

Former Derby School

Derby Moor Community Sports College has inherited the last site and some traditions of the former Derby School. It has a memorial area which includes benches for a teacher who died and a sundial in memory of Daniel Parkin, a former pupil, to the south of Derwent Building. In the entrance is the school badge and in the hall are listed former students of Derby School.

Notable Alumni

• Lee Camp, goalkeeper for Nottingham Forest and Northern Ireland national football team.
