Wattle Glen in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, is served by Wattle Glen railway station on the Hurstbridge railway line. It is in Metcard Zone 2. The station is unmanned, and is one of the least-patronised railway stations in Melbourne.
Facilities
The station is located between Diamond Creek and Heidelberg-Kinglake Road, the latter provides access to the platform.
The station consists of only one platform, which has a small pebblemix shelter. A large Metcard ticket machine is located at the entrance to the station, able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small gravel car park is located alongside the platform.
History
Wattleglen station opened on June 25 1912 as "Balee". It was later renamed "Wattle Glen" in 1922. [ [http://www.vicsig.net/index.php?page=infrastructure&name=Wattle%20Glen Wattle Glen station profile on VICSIG] ]
The car park is currently being redeveloped to provide additional car parks. This involves creating new car parking areas at both ends of the station. The car park will be sealed.
Naming Convention
Although sources such as VicNames gives the spelling of the place as Wattleglen, the railway station signage (see the photo in this article) and operator timetables [ [http://www.connexmelbourne.com.au/media/docs/hurstbridge_tt07.pdf Hurstbridge line timetable] ] have and continue to give the name of the station as two words.
