It was released as a single in August 1969. The song was on the 1970 album Cucumber Castle and was used in the British TV-Special Cucumber Castle (BBC 1970) starring Barry Gibb, Maurice Gibb, Lulu, Vincent Price, Frankie Howerd and others.
The song competed with brother and former bandmate, Robin Gibb, as his solo single, "Saved by the Bell", also rose to number two in the UK chart during the same time period.
Cover versions
- Swedish dansband Flamingokvintetten covered the song in 1972, with lyrics in Swedish, as "Jag vill leva mitt liv med dig" ("I want to live my life with you").
- Country singer Skeeter Davis covered the song and reached #44 on the country charts with it in 1974.
- Swedish dansband, pop and country singer Kikki Danielsson covered the song with the original lyrics in English on her 1993 album Jag ska aldrig lämna dig [1].
