Montenars (Slovene: Gorjani) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 80 km northwest of Trieste and about 20 km north of Udine. As of 31 December 2004^[update], it had a population of 554 and an area of 20.6 km².^[1] According to the 1971 census, 23,2% of the population are Slovenes.^{[citation needed]}

Montenars borders the following municipalities: Artegna, Gemona del Friuli, Lusevera, Magnano in Riviera, Tarcento.
