Glenferrie is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located on Glenferrie Road in the suburb of Hawthorn on the Lilydale, Belgrave and Alamein railway lines. Glenferrie Station is classed as a Premium Station and is in Metcard Zone 1.

Facilities

The station is located at the eastern end of the Glenferrie Road rail overpass, which provides rail access.

The station consists of three platforms, two in an island format. The island platform (platforms 1 & 2) has a large red brick building, while platform 3 has a semi-large red brick building. A ticket office is located in the station's subway as well as a large Metcard machine, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes (up to $20) and coins.

Glenferrie is adjacent to the Hawthorn campus of the Swinburne University of Technology.
Tram route 16 is a short walk from the station, on Glenferrie Road. The station is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.

History

Glenferrie station opened on April 3 1882 as "Glenferrie Road". It was later renamed to "Glenferrie" in the same year. It was upgraded to Premium Station status on February 26 1996.cite journal
