Kooyong is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Kooyong, on the Glen Waverley railway line. Kooyong station is unmanned and is in Metcard Zone 1.

Facilities

The station is located at the eastern end of the Glenferrie Road tramway crossing, which provides station access.

The station consists of two side platforms: Platform 1 (citybound) has a large weatherboard building, while platform 2 (Glen Waverley bound) has a small steel shelter (the shape and size of a 1960s suburban bus shelter). A large Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2. A signal box is situated on platform 2 at the citybound end of the station, to control the tramway crossing. Despite the unmanned status, the toilets were available for use in December 2007 and in remarkably good condition.

Tram route 16 is adjacent to the station. The Kooyong Tennis Stadium is a short walk from the station.

History

Kooyong station opened on March 24 1890.
