Nuapatna is a census town in Cuttack district in the Indian state of Orissa.

Demographics

As of 2001^[update] India census,^[1] Nuapatna had a population of 7846. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Nuapatna has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 55%. In Nuapatna, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Nuapatna is famous for Khandua Silk and Ikat saris.

Manapur is a village near Nuapatna. There is a famous temple called Kapileswar in Manapur village. Manapur is situated nearest to the Mahanadi river.

There is a small village called Bhogada, near Nuapatana, The most beautiful village surrounded by green green rice field.If you are a traveler, suggestion is to put your step into bhogada at least once.There is a small temple of Maa Chandi near the common pond of this village.legend says if you call Maa from your heart She will take care of all your problems. Even some people believe that they have seen some goddess like shadow moving around the village in late nights as if some mother is protecting her child from all evils.

Legend behind bhogada: Elders say it was a huge village which got destroyed during natural calamities in long past.The left over families came to one high place and started living together. Some years passed by one or two migrated families come back and started living with others. Some people believe that this high place was created by the king of Tigiria who used to dump the wasted prasad (Bhoga) of lord Jagannath. Researchers found some supportive document in side the Bhagawata Tungi during 1990. Now a days no such documents present to support the history of Bhogada. In time all history considered as a myth.This Bhagawata Tungi also got destroyed due to nasty internal politics of poor villagers.It is so sad that this beautiful village stands now a days with no past history with no ends nor beginning but one equal eternity.
