'Minjur (Tamil: மீஞ்சூர்) is a town in Thiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Minjur is also called "Vada Kanchi" for North Kanchipuram. The town has two famous temples for Siva and Vishu, similar to Kanchipuram.

Geography
Minjur is located at 13°16′N 80°16′E / 13.27°N 80.27°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 11 metres (36 feet).
With Ponneri as its north,Cholavaram as its west, Manali and Thiruvottiyur as its south, it is situated about 27 km from north of chennai and a well connected to city with roadways and railways.
Minjur is a well-developed town which comprises more than 20 villages around it with most villages underdeveloped in terms of roads,schools.Minjur belongs to Ponneri taluk.Minjur name derived from great man Mr.Muganja Munivar lived in this place.Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Minjur had a population of 23,947. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Minjur has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 84%, and female literacy is 71%. In Minjur, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.Almost half the population dwells near and around ponneri as almost all state government offices,magistrate,registrar office,major banks is located at Ponneri. Minjur is a major vegetables consumables market for below poverty line people in the nearby villages.Minjur is also a key residential area for many years for Union Employees of Hinduja Group Companies located in Ennore and Tamil Nadu Electricity board Employees.

D.V.S.Reddy Higher Secondary School is the only Golden Jubilee school (1955–2005) in this area in which many scholars of the society had studied.The former minister K.Sundaram,DMK had studied in this school. It was started by the then D.V.Subramania Reddiar who is one of the landlords of Minjur who had given a shape even to the city.He contributed over twenty five acres of land to the school and the playground and now it can accommodate a total strength of 1200 students.
Sahayamatha Girls Higher secondary school is one of the toppers' school in the area and it is run by Christian minorities.It contributed many district toppers in the past years.
Shree Chandraprabhu Jain College is situated nearly 1/2 km from Minjur Railway station, started by Jain minorities.Started with few students in 1997 with few courses and it is now offering more than 15 courses at UG/PG level and accommodate over 2700 students and it contributed a university gold medalist from Plant Biology and Plant Bio-technology. It also have many christ school the top one is ST. ANNE'S MATRICULATION SCHOOL. Vivekananda Vidyala In Surya Nagar, is one of the matriculation school with most extra curricular activities and well trained teachers for teaching the students. St.Mark's Matriculation School started by Mr.Rev.S.Bentinck, Near to Minjur Panchayat office and straight oppsite to Minjur Government hospital is one of the best schools in this area in which many scholars have studied. Minjur is one of the suburban places of Chennai which is highly growing in terms of Education, Industrialization, Agriculture which is expanding leaps and bounds.Minjur in its area wise twice than that of Thiruvottiyur and thrice of Ponneri which is very much near to minjur.
Minjur desalination plant which supplies 100 million litres a day water to Chennai city was inaugurated on July 31, 2010.[3]
Outer Ring Road (ORR) which connects the southern chennai (Vandalur) to Minjur is a main part of the CMDA's Second Master Plan for the greater Chennai.
