Chandur is a city and a municipal council in Amravati district in the state of Maharashtra, India.

Geography

Chandur is located at 19°44′N 79°11′E / 19.73°N 79.18°E / 19.73; 79.18.[1] It has an average elevation of 231 metres (757 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Chandur had a population of 17,720. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Chandur has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 82% and female literacy of 72%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
