The nominees for the 77th Academy Awards were announced on January 25 2005 by Academy president Frank Pierson and actor Adrien Brody, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in the Academy's Beverly Hills headquarters. The winners were announced 27 February at a ceremony at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Films that won multiple Oscars include: "The Aviator" (5), "Million Dollar Baby" (4), "Ray" (2), and "The Incredibles" (2).
