It is a part of the municipality of Delfzijl, and lies about 24 km east of Groningen.
In 2001, the town of Meedhuizen had 217 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.075 km², and contained 81 residences.[1] The statistical area "Meedhuizen", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 420.[2]
