In 2008 the station was refurbished as part of a £17 million investment package by NI Railways to improve access for disabled passengers and provide better lighting, signage and seating.
Whiteabbey is technically the next stop on the line, however services only stop here once per day in accordance with the current timetable. At other times, trains only call at Yorkgate prior to Belfast Central, hence missing out Whiteabbey.
Service
Mondays to Saturdays there is a two hourly service towards Derry Waterside or Belfast Great Victoria Street operated by Northern Ireland Railways with some extra services operating as far as Ballymena.
On Sundays, the line sees only five trains operating in each direction.
