Southland Mall, originally known as Cutler Ridge Mall, is a
shopping mall located in Cutler Bay (formerly Cutler Ridge),Florida . It opened in 1978 [http://www.library.miami.edu/archives/ohp/perrine/chronology.html] as an extension of the Cutler Ridge Shopping Center, which itself was opened in 1960 (shortly after its "grand reopening", the Cutler Ridge Mall moniker was subsequently applied to the entire shopping center complex). Subsequent additions extended the mall in the early-to-mid 1980s.The mall was nearly destroyed by
Hurricane Andrew in1992 . When Cutler Ridge Mall reopened the following year, none of the original Cutler Ridge Shopping Center (except Sears) remained standing, along with two of the four expansions. The owner, theSimon DeBartolo Group declared bankruptcy in the late 1990s and ownership was transferred toLender Ocwen Federal Bank , which has maintained ownership of the mall to the present time. In 2002, management of the mall as assigned to T/S Development ofMiami, Florida , which subsequently changed the name of the mall in November 2003 to Southland Mall [http://www.bizjournals.com/southflorida/stories/2004/01/26/focus3.html] .Currently, Southland Mall features
