Manhasset High School consistently ranks among the top 100 High Schools in America.
As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 785 students and 59.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 13.3:1.[1]
At Manhasset, Jim Brown earned 13 letters playing football, baseball, basketball and lacrosse, while also running track.[2] Manhasset boys lacrosse has won the state lacrosse title four times.[citation needed]

- Manhasset's team nickname is the Indians, and the school colors are orange and blue.
- Popular varsity sports at Manhasset High School are baseball, football, basketball, field hockey, cross country, track, volleyball, lacrosse, tennis, soccer, swimming, crew, fencing, badminton, golf, bowling and wrestling. The following are some of the sport teams and their accomplishments:
Cross-country and track
- The 2010 Cross Country team completed a 3rd consecutive undefeated dual meet season, finishing 13-0 and emerging victorious in the Conference Championship meet. From an individual standpoint, this has been the most successful season in the history of the program. Junior Charlie Morris earned All-County, All-State, and All-Federation honors (first in Manhasset's history) and sophomore Stephen Bourguet achieved All-County and All-State honors as well. The two will return next year as the top runners in Nassau County and will look to carry a young group of emerging harriers back to the State Championships as a team.
- The 2009 Cross Country team finished 4th at the State Championships in Plattsburgh, NY. Top runner Joe Nassirian earned All-State honors with a 16th place finish in a personal best of 16:16. Fellow senior co-captains Patrick Love, Andrew Choi, and Joe Zahn joined teammates Jonathan Thomas, Charlie Morris and Stephen Bourguet in capturing the Nassau County B Championship, following an undefeated season earning the squad a Division and Conference Championship.
- The Manhasset Boys 2008 Cross-Country team won the Class B County Championships, competing in the State Meet in Sunken Meadow, New York. The team placed 4th in the Nassau County tournament, and 8th in the New York State Class B Division. The team was led by Joseph Nassarian, David Knowles and Patrick Love.
- Outdoor Track Coach Donald Scott ranks 6th all-time amongst all New York State coaches in Track dual meet victories, recording 384 over the span of his coaching career. In Cross Country he currently ranks 2nd all-time in Coaching Wins with 510. [2]
Lacrosse
- Manhasset lacrosse is an enduring tradition.[3]
- In 1932, Manhasset established the first HS lacrosse team on Long Island while Garden City followed shortly after in 1934.[4] A yearly lacrosse tradition known as the "Woodstick Classic" emerged between the schools, an event which is attended by hundreds every year, and is currently the nation's longest continuous boys lacrosse rivalry.[5] Manhasset leads the all-time series, 66-55.[6] In recent years, a side rivalry has developed with the Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks, as well as John Jay Cross River High School
- Since 1995, Manhasset has won the Class B State Championship one time : 1995, and Class C State Championship three times:[3] 2004,2009 and 2010.[citation needed]
- For the past six years since 2004, the Manhasset Indians have been ranked among the top 100 best lacrosse teams in the country (Ranked by Laxpower), and have finished among the top three on that list, three different times during that span.
- In 2009 and 2010, the boys lacrosse team won the Class C state championship, making back-to-back state titles for the first time in school history and this year they are being moved up a division.
Wrestling
Manhasset’s Varsity Wrestling Team won the Division 2 Nassau County Championships three consecutive years, 2005, 2006, & 2007. Since moving to Division 1 in 2008, the team has produced several conference champions and all-county wrestlers.
Rowing
In 2008, the Boys Junior 4-Boat placed first in the Scholastic National Regatta in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. They also placed first at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta and at the New York State Championships. In 2009, the Girls Junior 4-boat and Boys Senior 4 both placed first at the Scholastic National Regatta. They also came in 4th at the Head of the Charles Regatta. In 2010 a Girls Lightweight four were New York State Champions followed by placing first at the Scholastic National Regatta, they also took Second at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta.
Soccer
In 2000, the Manhasset Boys Soccer team finished their season 8-2-2, and was awarded a #6 seed in the playoffs. After winning in both the first and second round playoff games, they upset Garden City (#1 seed) and continued their journey by becoming Long Island Champions. The team lost a heart breaker in the State Semi-Finals 1-0.
In 2010, the Manhasset Boys Varsity Soccer team finished first in conference VI. They finished with an undefeated season (10-0-2) with 32 points and received a #1 seed in the Nassau County Playoffs the first time ever in their school's history. Throughout the season, the team was consistently ranked in the state by Newsday (#1 in Week 4; #5 in Week 5; #4 in Week 6), the first time the school has ever been ranked in the state for soccer. On October 30, 2010, the boys soccer team won their first round playoff game against Seaford 2-1 in Double OT. It was the first time in ten years that the Indians had won a playoff game in soccer. The Indians continued their undefeated streak until losing to Wantagh in the county semi-finals aided by All County Andrew Kapper, all county honorable mention Owen O'hora, all conference Goalkeeper Max Egan, sophmore Alex Leondis and Bradford Greaves. Captains Michael Heenan and Max Egan's ambitious qualities helped motivate their team to success.
Music
In 2007 Manhasset's Choirs (Concert Choir, Kinsmen, & Select Ensemble) became the first in New York State to receive three Golds with Distinction on the highest level of NYSSMA.[citation needed] In 2008 this process was improved with four Golds with Distinction when the Women's Chorus also received one on Level VI.
This year eight choirs will involve over 300 students in singing: Symphonic Choir, Concert Choir I, Concert Choir II, Women's Chorus, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Select Ensemble, Kinsmen, Varsity Kinsmen.[3]
Kinsmen is the elite men's choir with 35 members. In June 2008 they were selected as the Best High School Choir in New York State. In recognition of their excellence Kinsmen will perform at the NYSSMA All-State Conference in Rochester in December. Kinsmen can be heard on youtube.[4][5]
The Manhasset High School Marching Band has won the USSBA Division 1A New York State Championships three years in a row, from 2009 through 2011. On October 3, 2010, Manhasset hosted its own marching band competition, which included five bands competing and an exhibition by the Stony Brook University marching band.
