Below is a list of newspapers in Germany, sorted according to circulation as of early 2003 (magazines mid 2005; national subscription papers end 2008), as listed at ivw.de which tracks circulations of all publications in Germany.

also called “Bildzeitung”; with several regional issues/editions like “Bild Hamburg” or “Bild Köln”. The “Bild” can be compared to tabloids, but the page size is bigger (broadsheet).

Details

Süddeutsche Zeitung (Munich) and Der Tagesspiegel (Berlin) are both national and regional papers (with long regional tradition).
Handelsblatt and Financial Times Deutschland are financial newspaper which are not published on Saturday (and not Sunday, of course).
A foreign newspaper in German language with high reputation is the Neue Zürcher Zeitung which is sold at several shops in Germany with its ‘international edition’.
