- Camp White Pine
Camp White Pine is a traditional residential summer camp for boys and girls aged 7 to 16, located in
Haliburton, Ontario . After purchasing a fishing lodge that surrounded Lake Placid,Joseph Kronick established the camp in 1956. He placed a strong emphasis on group living, a spirit of non-competition, and by allowing campers to help plan and execute their summer activities. In 1986, Joe's son Adam assumed leadership of the camp, later to be joined by his wife Dana in 1990. The camp is notable as one ofCanada 's best known primarilyJew ishsummer camp s and enjoys attendance from all parts ofNorth America , as well asEurope and South America.Activities include
swimming ,water-skiing ,sailing ,windsurfing , fitness,yoga ,pottery , glass, copper,arts and crafts ,canoeing ,tennis , ropes, landsports (including in-line hockey and a batting cage), drama,mountain biking ,woodworking ,guitar ,mini-golf , school of rock, media arts and outdoor recreation. The camp also offeres a wide variety of overnight and day trip, including canoe trips, sail trips, biking trips, tennis tour, intercamp sports and horseback riding. Semi-annual activities include radio and music video production; both of which are conducted by staff members ofMagen Boys Entertainment .The sections at Camp White Pine are Kiwis, Koalas, Blue Dolphins, Red Dolphins, Gnus and the Training Village.
Intercamp
Camp White Pine partakes in intercamp sport activities on a yearly basis with
Camp Wahanawin ,Camp Northland andCamp Timberlane . Other camps are rotated in-and-out on a scheduling basis. The sports which are undertaken during intercamp include softball, basketball and tennis. In recent years, hockey, skiing, canoeing, swimming and sailing have also been included as part of the intercamp competition.The Whisperer
Camp White Pine produces a seasonal newsletter known as The Whisperer. The four page publication is produced during the winter and the spring season by the White Pine head office, while the summer edition is put together by campers at the media arts activity. There is presently no fall publication.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award is considered the most prestigious accomplishment a member of the Camp White Pine community can have bestowed upon them. Started in 1999, the award ceremony is annually held the night after changeover and is a casually-formal event with speeches/roasts by friends, family, campers and superiors. Initially the event was known as Bar Mitzvah night. Jackets are custom made for recieptents of the award and names are displayed on a large plaque predominenatly displayed in the Dining Hall behind the center stage area.
Recognition Criteria
13 years as a camper/staff combined or 10 years solely as a member of the staff.
50th Anniversary
The summer of 2005 marked the 50th anniversary of Camp White Pine. The evening was marked with a celebratory video looking at the past, present and future of the camp, as well as a special 50th anniversary party held in the dinning hall. Campers had the opportunity to look at collages of old photos and cabin photos, play camp trivia games and have a dance party.

The camp's geographical position is coord|45|5|N|78|35|W|. Many newer GPS units have the camp listed as a point of interest.
The Front Way (From Toronto)
Take Highway 400, northbound and merge onto Highway 11 after Barrie. After Gravenhurst, at the Bracebridge exit, go east on Highway 118. Pass through Carnarvon and West Guilford. The camp will appear on the righthand side.
The Back Way (From Toronto)
Take Highway 404, northbound to Newmarket and exit at Davis Drive. Go east on Davis Drive (Highway 31) until you reach Highway 48. Turn left and go north on Highway 48 until it ends in Brock. Turn left onto the
Transcanada Highway 12 towards Orillia. In Thorah, make a right onto Highway 48, going east until you reach Coboconk. At Coboconk, where Highway 48 ends again, turn left (north) onto Highway 35. When you are in Minden, you have two options. At Highway 21 (formerly Highway 121) you can go east through Haliburton Village and then turn left (northwest) onto Highway 118, in which case the camp is on your lefthand side, or you can take Highway 35 until Carnarvon and make a right onto Highway 118, in which case the camp is on your righthand side. The travel time between the two options are relatively the same.Trivia
