Michael T. Lynch (born October 25, 1938) is an internationally known American author, journalist, and automotive historian, specializing in auto racing and high-end special interest automobiles.

Lynch became known in the 1970s for his work on the history of Ferrari racecars. One of his earliest peer honors came when he won the Ferrari Club of America's Warren Fitzgerald "Article of the Year" Award for a piece published in Prancing Horse. While he remains a Contributing Editor to Cavallino, The Journal of Ferrari History and a regular contributor to Forza, another Ferrari-specific publication, his field of knowledge encompasses the entire of narrative of motor racing as well as high performance marques throughout history. In 1998, he co-authored the book, American Sports Car Racing in the 1950s, with William Edgar and Ron Parravano, which is the definitive work on the era. The book, with a Forward written by car designer, Carroll Shelby, has won numerous awards including the Dean Batchelor Award from the Motor Press Guild, a professional organization of automotive writers, photographers, artists, and broadcasters. The book also received a History/Cultural Book award at the International Automotive Media Conference in Las Vegas. Lynch's periodical work has received recognition including the Society of Automotive Historians' James Valentine Award for Excellence in Historical Research.

Lynch's byline has appeared in American periodicals including Road & Track, Automobile Magazine, Sports Car International, Cavallino Magazine, Forza, Vintage Motorsport and many others. His articles have enhanced programs for such prestigious events as the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, the Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue, the Marin Sonoma Concours d'Elegance, the Monterey Historic Automobile Races, the Palo Alto Concours d"Elegance, The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, The Rolex Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park, The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, The Quail Motorcycle Gathering and The Quail - A Motorsports Gathering. Foreign publications using his work include Auto Classique (France), Das Auto (Germany), and Car Graphic (Japan). Lynch has also provided commentary for the Behind the Headlights series on Speed Channel TV. He has also acted as an announcer at the Avila Beach Concours d'Elegance, the Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue, the Desert Classic Concours, the Marin Sonoma Concours, the Porsche Race Car Classic, Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV and The Quail Motorcycle Gathering. Online, his work is often seen on VeloceToday.com, a site specializing in Italian and French collector cars.

Lynch holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities and an M.B.A. degree in Finance and Marketing from Harvard University. He also has a Masters in Electronic Commerce from National University.

Michael T. Lynch lives in San Francisco, California. In addition to his writing and research, Mr. Lynch consults to automotive events and collectors on subjects as diverise as event planning and vehicle provenance verification.
