Cucumber is an unincorporated census-designated place in McDowell County, West Virginia, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 94.^[2] It is centered around mining. Cucumber, West Virginia is the only community in the United States with this name.

Mine collapse

On January 13, 2007, a tunnel collapse at a Brooks Run Mining Company coal mine killed two miners in the town.^[3][4]
