Radio Station Facilities

One Media broadcasts from Staffordshire University Students Union's 'College Road Campus' in Stoke-on-Trent, and from the 'Stafford Campus'. The station also runs several outside broadcasts per year. Currently there are two studios in Stoke (broadcast and production) and one studio in Stafford.

As of October 2010

  • Jingles recorded by Voice Over Man, Peter Dickson.
  • 24 hour live broadcast in aid of Children in Need.
  • Live outside broadcast from multiple locations for the annual 'Keele vs Staffs' 'Varsity Sports Competition', including:

    • updates all day using 'cover it live'.
  • Live coverage of students' union elections
  • Interactive live debate covering a vote of no confidence in the residing Staffordshire University Students' Union President, Assed Baig.

Management

The day-to-day running of the station is performed by a voluntary student management team, appointed jointly by the Students' Union and the Media Faculties broadcasting and journalism courses, although being on a relevant course is not necessarily a prerequisite for being on the management team.

The media management is overseen by the Students' Union, although One Media has independent editorial control.

Editor in Chief

Each year, the role of editor in chief is done the Sabbatical Communications officer. They oversee media, making sure content doesn't break any laws or other legislation. They don't censor material or add any active input. There is some debate as to the suitability of an officer who historically has no NCTJ qualifications advising on law in respective of journalistic output. This has been remedied in the past two years by main oversight of OMG being handled by a member of staff within the activities department.
