These sports facilities were built for the 2000 Summer Olympics, but are retained for post-games uses. The station is located on a balloon loop, with 2 tracks and 4 platform faces. The centre island platform 2/3 is used by arriving east and west trains to disembark passengers. The two separate outermost side platforms 1 & 4 are used by departing east and west trains to pick up passengers. The stadiums are about 3 km (1.9 mi) from any existing rail line, which necessitated the rail branchline.
