The main camera is smaller, at 2 megapixels and connectivity excludes Wi-Fi. FM radio with RDS uses the headphone cord as an antenna. This phone operates on the Symbian S60 5th Edition platform. This phone is 3G compatible unlike the Nokia 5233 smartphone which was released later.
Nokia 5235 is a variant of the Nokia 5230 smartphone, which has been discontinued. The two phones contain almost the same firmware.
The latest firmware released is 50.1.001.[1]

The Nuron version of the 5230, which has WCDMA Band IV (AWS) enabled, comes preloaded with maps of the United States, Canada and Mexico.[2] In January 2010, Nokia announced that Ovi Maps will be available for free for certain smartphones which includes the Nokia 5230, thus enabling free offline voice guided navigation for more than 180 countries.[3]The Nokia 5230 includes the Ovi services including the Ovi store, Ovi maps 3 and Ovi music. The Nokia 5230 also does not include auto focus, battery charging from USB or WLAN.
