Nokia 7110

A Nokia 7110 opened to expose its keypad.

The Nokia 7110 was the first mobile phone with a WAP browser.^{[1][dead link]} It was announced in February 1999 and released in October 1999^[2].

Features

The Nokia 7110 has a spring-loaded cover concealing the keypad. This is inspired^{[dubious – discuss]} by the film The Matrix in which Neo used a Nokia 8110 modified by the film's production crew to have such a cover.^[3][4]

Variants

The Nokia 7160 was TDMA equivalent of the Nokia 7110. The Nokia 71** series of cellphones in general featured a special, navi-roller button.^[5] It was considered to be one of the first true media phones with WAP and messaging capabilities^[6].

In popular culture

• Jack Bauer used a 7110 in the first season of 24.
• This phone can also be seen in the Swordfish film.
