History

This park was open as a state park for only four months before it was extensively damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and Hurricane Dennis in 2005.

In October 2005, the Santa Rosa County Commissioners were in negotiation with the state to return the park to county control. On October 9, 2008, the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners voted to take over the park, and it is now known as "Navarre Beach County Park".[1]

Recreational Activities

The park has such amenities as beaches, bicycling, birding, fishing, hiking, inline skating, picnicking areas, swimming, wildlife viewing and full camping facilities. Concessions are also available.
