Projects written for NME use the Haxe programming language and compiler. NME leverages the Haxe compiler to convert source code into SWF bytecode, C++ classes or Javascript files.[3] There is also an included "install tool" that handles the embedding of project assets, and automates the build, package, install and run process for supported platforms.[4]
NME is free and open-source.[5]
