MuxCo (Somerset) Licensed area Somerset Frequency 10D (215.072 MHz) Air date Yet to Launch (Delayed) Owner Consortium Website www.muxco.com MuxCo (Somerset), is the name of the Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) multiplex operator for the county of Somerset, England.
It is a consortium made up of three companies - UKRD, the Local Radio Company and National Grid Wireless all owning a third share. However, it is effectively now just two companies who own the licence as the Local Radio Company is now a subsidiary company of UKRD.
The DAB licence was advertised by Ofcom on January 23, 2008.[1] At the close on April 23, 2008, the regulator had received only one application, from MuxCo (Somerset). They had to wait until May 21, 2008, before they were confirmed as having won the licence.[2]
Only two transmitters are confirmed as carrying the platform initially; Mendip, and Taunton. As required, the local BBC service, BBC Somerset, has to be carried on this platform.
