The 2009 season was the first time in their history that they had participated in the top flight of Thai football, after winning Thai Division 1 League title in 2008.
Muangthong United is one of the richest clubs in Thai football.[2] The club is widely known as The Twin Qilins.[3]

History
Formation and early years
The club was founded in 1989, and is thus also a relatively young club. Into the minds of football fans in Thailand also joined the club until 2007. The club's first success was its first place finish in the 2007 Season of the Thailand Division 2 League. This achievement saw them promoted to the Thai Division 1 League.[4] The team were then promoted to Thai Premier League in the 2009 season.
League era
From Opening Day, it's got the club on a promotion place, and this was also not until end of season ago. As a sovereign master of the second division it moved up to the TPL. Even before the start of the season, the club undertook many new and notable players of Thailand. Despite a successful season starts they pledged in April 2009 with Attaphol Buspakom a new coach. For the summer break, the association is, as expected by all experts, among the top five of the table and plays for the championship.[5]
One factor of success would certainly be the close links between Robert Procureur (team manager)and top teams in Europe same Arsenal and Lierse. By that Lierse Sk, was on summer break, the Thai star player Teeratep Winothai be required. At the same time joined with Ronnachai Rangsiyo, the master FC PEA, another storm talent for Nonthaburi. The association has with Ronnachai Rangsiyo, Teerasil Dangda and Teerathep Winothai, now probably the most talented strikers in the country in its ranks.[6][7]
Stadium
Muangthong United currently play their home matches at the Yamaha Stadium, located in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi Province. The stadium currently has a capacity of 15000 spectators. The stadium,unlike most stadiums in Thailand does not have a running track. In addition, there are expansion plans for the stadium increasing the capacity to over 25,000 and to include VIP/Corporate areas.[8]
Supporters
The club managed to quickly develop a large fan base. For away games the fans are very well represented. Games against Big 3 Thai Premier League Bangkok Glass, Chonburi and Buriram PEA are among the highlights of the season.[9][10] Supporters of Muangthong United are often referred to as the Ultra Muangthong.
The environment of the club is considered to be extremely professional. One of the owner of the society, the Siam Sports Syndicate, is one of the largest media companies in Thailand in the field of sport. So the company is sponsor of the Thailand Association Cup and also has the rights to the live broadcasts of the Thai Premier League.[11]
