Mirani (Urdu: ميرانی), (Sindhi: ميراڻي) from the Arabic Amir (أمير) Mir (مير) + -âni (انی), meaning "The Descendants of Mir" or "Amir", is a Sindhi tribe of Baloch origin, settled in Sindh, and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan as well as Tehran, Hormozgān, Kermān, Khūzestān, South Khorasan, Sistan and Baluchestan provinces of Iran. According to an old tradition, they are descendants of Amir Hamza, an uncle of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. They speak Sindhi, Balochi, Persian, Kurdish, and Arabic, depending on their country of origin and are found mainly in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, and Oman.
