The Metrotranvía of Mendoza (Mendoza Metropolitan-Area Tramway, or Mendoza Light Rail) will be a public light rail transport system for the city of Mendoza, Argentina, served by articulated light rail cars operating on newly relaid tracks in former-Ferrocarril General San Martín mainline right-of-way. The 12.5-km line will run between Mendoza Central Station and General Gutierrez in Maipú, in double track 1435 mm standard gauge track. Construction began in March 2009, and inauguration is targeted for 2011.^[1]

Rolling stock

The service will be provided by eleven Siemens–Duewag U2 light-rail vehicles (LRVs) acquired secondhand from the San Diego Trolley system in San Diego, California.^[2]

Stations

The Metrotranvía of Mendoza will serve the metropolitan area of Mendoza, which includes the departments of Las Heras, Downtown, Godoy Cruz, Maipú and Luján de Cuyo.
