Masi, Almora

Masi is a small village in Almora district, Uttarakhand, India, located 34 km from Bhikiyasen and 54 km from Ranikhet. It is situated on the banks on Ram Ganga River, on the way to Chaukhutia. Naithna Devi Temple is only 4 km from here. The famous Shiva temple at Masi attracts large number of pilgrims every year during the Somnath Fair. Nearby attractions include Bhumia Temple, Jaurasi, Lakhanpur Temple, Khairna and Dwarahat. Pant Nagar Airport is the nearest airbase. The nearest railway stations are at Kathgodam and Ram Nagar. There is a very famous temple of Goddess Durga called Naithna Devi. It can be reached through a 4 km. trek from Masi. Every year, Somnath Fair on Vishuwat Sankranti day is held in Masi during May–June. It is a famous fair of Pali Pachhaun. Brisk business takes place during the fair and animals, specially bullocks and calves are sold.
