Aroma Espresso Bar (Hebrew: ארומה אספרסו בר) is an Israeli espresso and coffee chain with 123 branches around the country, several branches in the United States, Canada and Ukraine and single locations in Germany, Cyprus, Romania and Kazakhstan. Aroma is a self-service cafe where orders are placed at the counter and customers are called when the order is ready.[1]

History
Founded in 1994 on Hillel Street in downtown Jerusalem, Aroma first started branching out beyond that city in 2000. In 2006 the first overseas branch opened in SoHo in New York City. In 2007 Aroma opened its first location in Canada, in downtown Toronto in The Annex. In 2008, Aroma opened a sister brand "Marrone Rosso" with locations in Romania and Cyprus. In 2009, branches were opened in the Toronto suburb of Thornhill at the Promenade Mall and on 72nd Street in New York City, as well as the first location in Kiev, Ukraine. In the fall of 2009, Aroma Espresso Bar opened a third store in Toronto on Yonge and Eglinton with an open patio.[2] In 2010, the cafe opened a branch in Miami, Florida in the Sunny Isles Beach neighborhood.
Social responsibility
In 1996, Aroma's first branch in Jerusalem began integrating workers with special needs. Today they are employed in nearly every branch in the country.[3]
Comparison surveys
A survey by an Israeli market research company found that more Israeli consumers are inclined to choose a cafe based on accessibility and availability, ahead of cost and taste of the food. According to Haaretz newspaper, this may explain the success of Aroma, which has 123 outlets in Israel.[4]Respondents were asked which chain they thought had the cheapest prices and best service. Aroma won by a wide margin.[5]
