Mallasamudram (Tamil: மல்லசமுத்திரம்) is a panchayat town in Thiruchengode taluk, Namakkal district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Mallasamudram is about 25 km from Salem on the Salem - Tiruchengode Road, via Attayampatti. Mallasamudram is located at 11°28′48″N 78°1′48″E / 11.48°N 78.03°ECoordinates: 11°28′48″N 78°1′48″E / 11.48°N 78.03°E. It has an average elevation of 224 metres (734 feet).

Economy
The major occupation of the people is textile weaving and agriculture. Gada, dhothis and towels are some of the town's textile products.
Temples
There is a Shiva Temple, "Soleeshwaran", of the Chola Era. The weekly shandy held each Wednesday and two other temples: Chinna Mariyamman and Periya Marriyaman. Chinna Marriyamman festival is held in April and Periya Marriyaman holds its festival in November. There is a Famous Murugan temple,"Kalipatti kandasamy kovil". the festival in jan-feb( thai in the month of Tamil).There is one more Perumal Kovil in Mallai(Kollapatti) constructed by Kings.
Health
Govt primary Health Centre situated in Vaiappamalai Main Road. OP and IP services, laboratory and Optometric services, Integrated Testing and Councelling services for HIV, Siddha and Yoga Departments are the services provided here. Family Planning services like Vasectomy and Tubectomy.
Education
There are elementary, primary, secondary as well as higher secondary schools in Mallasamudram. Mallasamudram also has three Engineering Colleges: Mahendra Engineering College,Mahendra Institute of Technology and Mahendra Institute of Engineering and Technology.A polytechnic college named Mahendra Polytechnic college is also situated in Mallasamudram.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census[1], Mallasamudram had a population of 17,125. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Mallasamudram has an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 53%. In Mallasamudram, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
