He is the president of National Party, the largest Baloch nationalist party.[1] He was born in Turbat, western Balochistan Pakistan. He is a middle-class politician and Baloch nationalist who has introduced middle-class politics in the tribal political set-up of Balochistan.

Political Carrier
Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has started his political career under the platform of Baloch Student Organization BSO and later on in 1988, with the collaboration of his senior political fellows he established a nationalist political party, Balochistan Natioanl Movement. In 2004, the political followers of Mir Ghaus Bakhsh Bizenjo merged in the BNM and became National Party. He is a senator in the Upper House of Pakistan.[2] He was elected as senator in 2006. He is member of various standing committees of Senate including Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping and Standing Committee on Food and Agriculture. He is the chairman of Functional Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas. In 2008 he was elected as President of National Party. N.P is the only democratic nationalist party which is consist of middle-class educated politicians. It has been opposing tribal based dynastic politics in Balochistan. It is said to be the successor of the Kalat National Party.
Health and Education Minister
Malik Baloch has served twice in the provincial government as provincial minister for health and education. During his tenure he has established a network of schools and colleges in Balochistan and especially in Makran division.[3] Today the literacy rate of Makran division is very high that's credit goes to him. In 2008, he established Makran University in Turbat.He has also served as provincial health minister in 1988-1990.[4] Professionally Abdul Malik Baloch is a medical doctor and eye specialist, he has got the degree of MBBS from Bolan Medical College Quetta.[5] Being a middle-class educated politician and realizing the significance of education, he has utilized his all efforts for the betterment of education and health services in Balochistan.
Struggle for Provincial Autonomy
Abdul Malik Baloch is a Baloch politician and intellectual. He has been the member of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms which has introduced Eighteen Constitutional Amendment in the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan. He has a knowledgeable command over the political and economic issues of Balochistan. He has huge contribution in inserting the major demands of provincial autonomy in the Eighteen Constitutional Amendment.[6]
Struggle for Democracy
He has rendered hard struggle for the rights of Balochistan and Baloch. He has raised his voice against discrimination and military operations in Balochistan. He has alway fought against tribalism and sardari system and called it as the major obstacle in the progress of the society. Due to his outstanding struggle, today there is no tribalism in Makran division of Balochistan. The National Party is a liberal, secular and nationalist party and it believes on democratic struggle.[7] He is a secular and liberal politician and a staunch and ardent supporter of liberal democracy and democratic values.
