The Double Down Live Tour was a concert tour by rock band ZZ Top. Launched in support of their newly-released DVD Double Down Live, the tour's concerts were performed in casinos and arenas from November 8 through December 1, 2009. Like previous tours, the stage set was simple and a LED drape was used as a backdrop. Band members Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill dressed in black biker jackets, along with similar hats and boots. The Double Down Live Tour consisted of two legs and 14 shows.

Set design and promotion

The stage set included truck exhaust pipes for microphone stands, which were built with electroluminescent lights. A Soft-LED video drapery from Main Light Industries was used to display various images of the band's early years and music videos.

ZZ Top announced their tour on October 2, 2009 via the band's official website. The tour was to feature only four shows throughout Canada, though they would tour an additional ten cities. Tickets went on sale for the announced dates several days after the tour's announcement, and were priced at an average of $85. Prior to the inception of the tour, Eagle Vision released the DVD Double Down Live. Performances from their previous El Camino Ocho Tour were depicted on the DVD.

Concert overview

Out of the 14 shows performed, each had the same set list, with about 21 songs performed. The concerts typically began with techno music played through the PA system, during which the band would walk on stage and begin the show.

Main set

The opening song for each concert was "Got Me Under Pressure," followed by "Waitin' for the Bus," "Jesus Just Left Chicago," "Pincushion" and "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide." They performed covers including Willie Brown's "Future Blues" and Jimi Hendrix's "Foxy Lady." "Cheap Sunglasses" and "Mexican Blackbird" were also played. "My Head's in Mississippi" was featured as a snippet before leading into "I Need You Tonight." Other songs they played were "Party on the Patio," "Just Got Paid," "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man," and "Legs."

Encores

The encores always featured "Tube Snake Boogie," "La Grange," and "Tush." "La Grange" would include a medley of the songs "Sloppy Drunk Blues" and "Bar-B-Q."
