Represented on the album are a variety of musical genres, including jazz, R&B and blues, and a number of musicians, mingling noted artists such as Louis Armstrong, Fats Domino, Dr. John and the Neville Brothers with less renowned musicians. In a review for All Music, Stephen Thomas Erlewine describes the album as a "a traveler's guide to the legendary city's rich musical heritage."[1]
