He is 1.92 m (6 ft 3¾) tall.[1] He can play both the point guard and shooting guard positions.

Pro career
Verginis started his career playing with the Asteria Panoramatos junior teams in Greece and he played with the senior team of Anatolia in the 2004-05 season. He debuted in the both Greek League and the EuroChallenge in the 2005-06 season with PAOK. In the 2006-07 season he played in the ULEB Eurocup for the first time.
He was selected to the EuroChallenge All-Star Game in the 2007-08 season. Verginis was the youngest player to ever be named the team captain in the history of PAOK when he took over that role from Kostas Vassiliadis.
In 2008, he left PAOK and joined the Greek club Panathinaikos.[2] Verginis stayed in Panathinaikos for 2 years.In 2010 he signed with Aris B.C..
Greek national team
Verginis played with several of the Greek junior national teams. He played at 2003 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship, both the 2004 and 2005 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championships, and at both the 2006 and 2007 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championships.
