It was released in the U.S. on November 11, 2008 (see 2008 in music), debuting at number four on the U.S. Billboard 200 and at number one on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album received mixed to favorable reviews from music critics. The album was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album for the 52nd Grammy Awards, but lost to Beyoncé's I Am... Sasha Fierce.

Singles
"Can't Believe It", featuring rapper Lil Wayne, was released as the album's first single on July 29, 2008. It peaked at number seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The albums second single is "Chopped 'n' Skrewed", featuring Ludacris, released on September 23, 2008. It has reached to number twenty-seven in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The albums final single, "Freeze", featuring Chris Brown, was released on October 10, and it peaked at number thirty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100. "Ringleader Man" was released as a first promotional single off Thr33 Ringz.[3]

Thr33 Ringz debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200, selling over 167,700 copies in its first week.[4] The album has been certified Gold, selling over 700,000 copies.[5]
